Mainstay wants you!

Welcome to Mainstay Careers — this site lists our open positions and gives you a sense of what it's like to work here. Scroll through to read about the work, what we hire for, and what we offer, then check the open positions at the end.

What the work looks like

Depending on the project, you might be joining a live game that's been running for years — with millions of players, established systems, and the operational tempo that comes with both — or something earlier on, still finding its shape, where the questions are bigger and the ground less settled. Sometimes it's both at once: a new mode or feature inside a live title, with all the constraints of one and the open questions of the other.

The role takes the form your discipline takes — engineering, design, production, art, live ops — and the level of ownership scales with the engagement. Some people embed into a partner's team and contribute as one of their own. Others lead a feature team or own a system end to end. The shape of the work is set by what the partner actually needs, not by a fixed template.

The common thread is that the work is real. Real partners who depend on what you ship. Real players who will notice if it's good or if it isn't. Real ambitions, real deadlines, real consequences. Nothing here is a sandbox project or a portfolio exercise — it ships, it gets played, and it matters to the people we're working with.

What we hire for

Clear communication. Saying what you mean in the fewest words it takes. Flagging problems early. Writing things down so people who weren't in the room can catch up. When you're embedded in a partner's team, half the value you bring is being easy to work with.

Ownership. Treating the work as yours, whether your name is on it or not. If something's broken or falling between the cracks, you pick it up — and you see it through, including the unglamorous parts.

Getting shit done. Delivering on what you commit to. Shipping over polishing forever. Knowing the difference between good enough to go out and the version you'd build with infinite time. When you say something will be done, it gets done — and if it won't, you say so early.

Craft you can stand behind. You care about the quality of your work past the point where anyone would notice. You have opinions about how things should be done, and you can defend them — and update them when someone has a better one.

Low ego, high standards. You can hold a strong view and still change your mind. You can give hard feedback without making it personal, and take it the same way.

What we offer

Competitive compensation, a genuine work-life balance, and leadership that has been through live ops pressure, new game launches, and industry downturns before. We’re a small company — less bureaucracy, more direct access to decisions, and a team that actually knows your name. We aim to be a steady place to do good work, even when the industry around us isn’t.

Our benefits package includes:

  • 5 weeks paid vacation
  • Private healthcare
  • Travel and leisure time insurance
  • Quarterly profit share
  • Lunch benefit
  • Sports and culture benefit
  • Free public transport
